Part Ridgeline, part jaw-dropping, the Honda Open Air Concept debuted at the SEMA Show this year, wowing everyone who laid eyes upon this magical beast of epic off-road proportions. If you thought Honda was just a rinky-dink sedan and crossover auto brand, we’re happy to report that you’ve got another thing coming.
This vehicle isn’t available to the public, but it shows just how capable the Honda lineup is. If you’re feeling inspired and want to get a Honda of your own, our team is here to help put your hands on the wheel of your favorite model; call us at 910-346-4944 or contact us below.
What is the Open Air Concept Vehicle?
Honda created the Open Air Concept by combining the body and suspension of the Ridgeline truck with the doors, bed, and tailgate panels of the Pioneer. The Honda Pioneer is an off-road ATV, referred to as a side-by-side, that was made to tackle literally any trail. So it’s no wonder this Honda concept looks like it can handle the hottest deserts and rockiest mountains. Basically, the Open Air Concept is the baddest, sickest, dopest thing we’ve seen in a long time.
What Powers the Honda Open Air Concept?
Honda is keeping secrets! We are curious to know if the engine is the same 3.5-liter V6 from the Ridgeline, but the automaker is keeping the lid on all performance specs. Guess we’ll just have to find a way to jump into the driver’s seat and take this bad boy for a joy ride.
Honda Open Air Concept Design
The seats inside the concept vehicle have been pulled from the Civic Type R and covered in the Pioneer 1000’s waterproof material. The instrument panel has been constructed with durable and weatherproof materials to protect it from elemental wear. A Pioneer 1000 steering wheel has been adapted to the Ridgeline steering column, and there are RAM Mounts to hold your smartphone. Even off-road warriors should be able to snap a selfie or find GPS navigation when they’re out in the wilderness.
Honda at the 2018 SEMA Show
Other vehicles that debuted at the 2018 SEMA Show include the Honda Civic Type R that showed off upgrades that included an Injen intake, downpipe, Hondata tuning, and exhaust to crank up the output to 380 horsepower. A Pedal Car was also on display, using a carbon fiber floor and diffuser and lithium ion battery to power the lights and cell phone charging plug. Talk about a fun toy to play around with!
Honda Performance Never Disappoints
We know, we know… It’s a shame that the Open Air Concept Vehicle isn’t available for true adventurers. Honda is amping up the tease factor and leaving us with our jaws on the floor. But there’s still plenty of raw power and performance in the Honda lineup at our showroom in Jacksonville!
For now, you’ll have to roll all the windows of your Ridgeline down and envision yourself behind the wheel of the Open Air Concept. If you want to check out the Ridgeline, we have plenty in stock! It’s the perfect combination of power, tech, and comfort, and it has all of the off-road features you’re looking for. Check out our current selection and come see us for a test drive today. You can also call us at 910-346-4944 or contact us below to learn more about the Ridgeline. Plus, we’re here even if you just need someone to vent to about the Open Air Concept’s tease factor – we’re right there with you.
